Lovage Bloody Mary

Our lovage has a bit of a local following, which is good because it’s a productive and potent plant. It also eliminates the need for celery salt. We’re pretty sure that if you want to win a Bloody Mary contest, use lovage.

2 oz tomato juice

1 1/2 oz Lovage Vodka

3/4 tsp horseradish, fresh grated

(1/2 tsp of prepared horseradish )

1 tsp Worchestershire sauce

3 dashes Tabasco

1 pinch salt

3 grinds fresh ground pepper

1/4 tsp lemon juice

Ice

Garnish: Lovage leaves and nano carrots

MEASUREMENT GUIDE
3 tsp = 1 TBSP
2 TBSP = 1 ounce
1 cup = 8 oz
1 cup = 1/2 pint
4 cups = 1 quart
4 quarts = 1 gallon
16 cups – 1 gallon

To make lovage vodka, use one cup rough-chop lovage for every pint of vodka. Let the herb marinate in the vodka for 24-hours and then drain.

WHAT TO DO
Combine:
2 oz tomato juice
1 1/2 oz Lovage Vodka
3/4 tsp horseradish, fresh grated
(1/2 tsp of prepared horseradish )
1 tsp Worchestershire sauce
3 dashes Tabasco
1 pinch salt
3 grinds fresh ground pepper
1/4 tsp lemon juice
Shake vigorously
Place ice in glass
Pour Bloody Mary over ice
Garnish
