Pear nectar is a by-product of roasting–and then cooling– a bunch of pears. We wouldn’t (and don’t) make pear nectar cocktails unless we had roasted pears.

WHAT TO DO
What to do:

Fill a cocktail shaker with 1 3/4 cups of ice

Pour the remaining ice into a low ball glass

Pour the vodka, nectar and lavender bitters into the shaker

Shake for 30 seconds

Serve to your favorite person.

NOTES
Make pear nectar by cooking whole pears in a crockpot for 10 hours on low (or in a roasting pan in the oven at 300 for 2 hours) and let cool. Then skim off the liquid at the top.

MENU SUGGESTIONS
This paired well with a ground elk and fig stuffing we made the other day. If you are serving this drink for cocktail hour, set out a little lightly melted cheese or warm blue cheese. It’s a cheap and cheerful way to get to heaven on earth.
